Herne Bay is an excellent place for children and young people to live.
We have the seafront with an award winning beach. Many watersports are available under close supervision of qualified business owners. We have seal watching projects, water-ski facilities, coastal splash (intiated by our own Ian Jones).
For older placements we have Teen-Planets, an extremely kind local night-club owner opens his premises to young people for discos every week. Soft drinks are available and the evening is monitored by local police officers and special constables who give their time free of charge to the event.
We have a local youth football team, tennis courts with coaches, the pier has sports facilities and an extremely good local hockey team are based there.
For our own exclusive use we have a riding school which is fully insured and run by a lady who was part of our county's polo team for many years. This lady has taught children to ride as soon as they are able to sit on a pony and she runs courses during the holidays for stable management, grooming of horses, tack maintenance and most importantly safe yard practices.
